Arnold's Park Amusement ParkThe Amusement Park located at Arnolds Park is surely one of the most well-known landmarks in the Lakes region of north-west Iowa. This is a truly great place for a family outing, whether you live in the area or you're just visiting. The Amusement Park is safe and fun for all the family, with a clean wholesome atmosphere and a wide variety of different attractions.
Arnolds Park Amusement Park has over thirty rides and attractions. There's a giant Ferris wheel, and most of the most interesting roller-coasters you'll ever see-one constructed entirely of wood. There are seventeen rides in total at the park, as well as a go-kart track, miniature golf, games of skill, a mirror maze, a games arcade, and a special area for the kids called Treasure Island. Rides include a log flume, bumper cars, a train, the Tilt-a-Whirl, and a roller coaster for the youngsters. Also located within the park is the Iowa Great Lakes Maritime Museum-this fun and educational museum displays a variety of aquatic-themed exhibits, including more than thirty wooden boats of all sizes, vintage outboard motors, fishing poles, and a replica of an old general store. The store is named Old Okoboji Store, and was once situated on the Wharf of Arnolds Park. Stepping into the store truly is like stepping back in time, with all the sights and the mingled smells of the candy, fruit, cigars and other items that were sold in the original store. From June through August, the park is also the location to go for live entertainment-night-time concerts and events occur two or three times a week, with a wide range of music acts and variety shows. Food is available at many locations in the park, with a centrally located concession stand as well as food vendors dotted around the peripheral areas. You'll find a huge variety of tempting snacks and more substantial meals on offer here-from old favorites such as pizza, cotton candy, onion rings and chilidogs, to a full meal you can enjoy at your leisure in the comfortable atmosphere of the park. There is also plenty of shopping to do at the Amusement Park-tempting candy to take home, souvenirs, clothing, jewelry and gift items, as well as an extreme watersports store which rents para-sailing equipment and a variety of watercraft. Daily admission to the Amusement Park is less than twenty dollars per person, with a reduced rate for kids and seniors, and free admission for the very young. Season memberships can also be obtained, which grant full admission for the entire season for less than fifty dollars per person. Admission is free for those who simply want to walk around and take in the sights, and individual tickets for the various rides and attractions can also be purchased separately. The park is open from May through September, closes in the early evening during the week, and stays open until 11pm on weekends. |
